The Eyes of the Lord are Intently Watching

Psalm 34 I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of his glories and grace. 2 I will boast of all his kindness to me. Let all who are discouraged take heart. 3 Let us praise the Lord together and exalt his name.

4 For I cried to him and he answered me! He freed me from all my fears. 5 Others too were radiant at what he did for them. Theirs was no downcast look of rejection! 6 This poor man cried to the Lord—and the Lord heard him and saved him out of his troubles. 7 For the Angel of the Lord guards and rescues all who reverence him.

8 Oh, put God to the test and see how kind he is! See for yourself the way his mercies shower down on all who trust in him. 9 If you belong to the Lord, reverence him; for everyone who does this has everything he needs. 10 Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those of us who reverence the Lord will never lack any good thing.

11 Sons and daughters, come and listen and let me teach you the importance of trusting and fearing the Lord. 12 Do you want a long, good life? 13 Then watch your tongue! Keep your lips from lying. 14 Turn from all known sin and spend your time in doing good. Try to live in peace with everyone; work hard at it.

15 For the eyes of the Lord are intently watching all who live good lives, and he gives attention when they cry to him. 16 But the Lord has made up his mind to wipe out even the memory of evil men from the earth. 17 Yes, the Lord hears the good man when he calls to him for help and saves him out of all his troubles.

18 The Lord is close to those whose hearts are breaking; he rescues those who are humbly sorry for their sins. 19 The good man does not escape all troubles—he has them too. But the Lord helps him in each and every one. 20 Not one of his bones is broken.

21 Calamity will surely overtake the wicked; heavy penalties are meted out to those who hate the good. 22 But as for those who serve the Lord, he will redeem them; everyone who takes refuge in him will be freely pardoned.

I decided to drop this Bible chapter on you all today because it was written by King David while he was living in land occupied by Pagans, the Philistines. They sacrificed humans and sometimes their children to their Satanic god, Dagan (the half fish/half man god), who was the father of Baal or Ba‘alZebub.... yup, just like the alternate name often used for the Devil. Bet you didn't know according to ancient lore apparently the Devil has a father. I think we all can imagine how David felt though, living in a land of Godless filthy devil-worshippers, trying to lay low and just avoid any major conflicts with his own enemies. Put yourself in David's shoes, knowing you're chosen BY GOD to be ruler of the land, trying to live your life as right as possible, while a bloodthirsty gang of other devil-worshippers are after your a$$. Wow. Not all that much different than now, in my opinion. But then what does the chapter say about God, us, and the evil people?

The point here is this- I'm sure every one of us right now can relate to this whole short chapter of Psalm 34, particularly the portion highlighted in blue. Chances are, if you're one of my followers, you're trying to rebuke the Devil and live your life justly as one of God's children, acknowledging your own royal DNA (as a child of God), and your sovereignty given to you as that birthright by Him. Verses 15-17 specifically say that God watches everything like a hawk, and that He WILL not only help you WHEN YOU ASK , that's key here, you have to ASK, but God has already decided the very memory of evil people will be wiped from the earth! That's a pretty awesome promise! Now, I don't know about you, but the God of the universe in the Old Testament Bible is the very same God I worship today. He hasn't changed. God is forever, He's the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. God does not change over time, He is the same reliable Almighty YHWH forever.

I just thought I'd share that chapter with you all that Mr. Wonderful and I read last night. No matter what specific variety of stress you may be going through right now, wether it's moving, quitting your job, finding a new job, pulling your kids from school, or just having to put your foot down with family/friends and take a stand about your beliefs- NO MATTER WHAT- if you're doing the right thing, no matter how hard it may seem, God is taking note! Now all you have to do to call down the mighty power of God is ASK him. That's it! "God, thank you so much for sending me exactly what I need and more. Thank you for helping me through this, and thank you for keeping me safe from enemies."

That's all you have to do- ASK. Because GOD IS WATCHING!
